Etihad Guest Miles calculator: what your spending really earns

Every UAE Etihad Guest card quotes its earn rate in different units - per AED 1, per AED 4, per AED 10 or per USD 1 - which makes them almost impossible to compare by eye. This page puts all 12 on the same scale, then ranks them against the spending you actually do.

Etihad Guest Miles calculator

Split your monthly card spending across the four categories that the Etihad Guest cards price differently, and this works out what each of the 12 UAE co-branded cards would earn you over a year - in miles, in dirhams at the official cash floor, and after the annual fee is paid.

Your monthly card spending

Enter what goes on the card each month. Leave a row at zero if it does not apply to you.

The ranking appears here when the page loads. The full earn-rate table further down works either way.

Earn rates come from each bank's own official card page and are normalised to miles per AED 1 so that the cards sit on one scale. Cash values use the only conversion Etihad publishes itself - the Reward Card, at 1.4 to 1.6 miles per US cent - which is a floor rather than a ceiling, because reward flights usually return more per mile.

Etihad Guest credit card earn rates, side by side

This is the table the calculator runs on. Every figure is miles per AED 1 of spend, so 0.60 beats 0.40 whatever units the bank quotes in its own marketing. Cards are ordered by their rate on ordinary UAE spending, the largest category for most cardholders.

Fees
Annual fees are shown as the banks charge them, with VAT included.
a
Emirates Islamic publishes these rates per USD 1 of spend. They are shown converted at the pegged rate of AED 3.6725 to the dollar, so 3 miles per USD 1 becomes 0.82 miles per AED 1.
b
FAB sells an optional Miles Accelerator that lifts the rate further - to as much as 0.75 on Infinite, 0.65 on Signature and 0.55 on Platinum. It carries its own fee, so the calculator uses the standard rates.
c
ADIB publishes these rates per AED 4 of spend. A reduced Specific Merchants rate of 1 mile per AED 4, or 0.5 on the Gold card, applies to some categories and is not modelled here.
d
This card carries no Etihad bonus category, so a ticket bought with it earns the ordinary UAE rate. The calculator applies that rate to the Etihad row.
e
The Ameera card is issued to women only and lets you pick two categories that earn 2.5 miles per USD 1, or 0.68 per AED 1. The calculator uses the standard rates.

The Tier Miles column decides status rather than rewards, and only the cards that publish a rate earn them. No card reaches Silver or Gold on its own, because every tier keeps a flying minimum - the detail sits in the Etihad Guest tiers guide.

What is your Etihad Guest Miles balance worth?

Enter a balance to see what it converts to in cash, and how close it sits to the reward flights Etihad advertises a from-price for.

Cash values and the reward ladder appear here when the page loads. The table below carries the same figures.

MilesCash value at the official floorOne-way reward it reaches

Cash values use the official Reward Card conversion of 1.4 to 1.6 miles per US cent, converted at AED 3.6725 to the dollar, and exclude the loading fee of around USD 0.99 per top-up. Reward from-prices are the lowest published on etihad.com and are not guaranteed on any given date; Etihad prices awards dynamically, and taxes and carrier charges are paid in cash on top.

Reading your Etihad Guest Miles result properly

A negative net figure is not a verdict

The net column subtracts the annual fee from the cash floor, which is the worst rate a mile ever fetches. A card that looks negative there can still pay off, but only if the miles go towards flights rather than the Reward Card.

The category split decides the winner

Move spending between the four rows and the order changes. A card that leads on international spend can finish mid-table for someone who only spends in dirhams, which is why a single headline rate tells you very little.

Vouchers and fast-track sit outside this

Several of these cards add spend-triggered miles discount vouchers or fast-track status - 75% at AED 200,000 on FAB Infinite, for instance. Those are worth real money and none of them are counted here.

What the calculator leaves out

×Foreign exchange fees. International and EEA spending carries a currency mark-up, typically around 1.99% on these cards. On heavy foreign spending that cost can outweigh the extra miles.
×Monthly or annual earn caps. Some cards cap the miles earned in a category or a cycle. Check the card page and the bank's key facts statement before assuming a rate runs uncapped.
×Welcome bonuses and vouchers. Joining miles, spend-triggered discount vouchers and fast-track status are one-off or threshold-based, so they are left out of an annual run rate.
×Excluded categories. Government payments, utilities, rent, education, cash advances and balance transfers frequently earn nothing at all, whatever the headline rate says.
×Interest. Every figure here assumes the balance is paid in full each month. Carrying a balance costs far more than any miles earned on it are worth.
×Tier bonuses on flights. Silver adds 25% to flight miles, Gold 50%, Platinum and Emerald 100%. Those bonuses apply to flying, not to card spending.

Treat the output as a like-for-like run rate for comparing cards, not as a forecast of your statement. The full picture for any single card - fees, salary requirement, caps and benefits - sits on that card's own page.

Etihad Guest Miles calculator questions

Multiply the spend in each category by that card rate for the category, then add the results. The complication is that the banks quote in different units: Emirates NBD publishes miles per AED 1, ADIB per AED 4, FAB per AED 10 and Emirates Islamic per USD 1. The table on this page converts all of them to miles per AED 1, which is what the calculator multiplies by.

It depends on where you spend. The ADIB Etihad Guest Visa Infinite leads on ordinary UAE spending at 0.63 miles per AED 1 and on international spending at 0.88, but it carries the highest annual fee at AED 3,150. The Emirates NBD Etihad Guest Visa Elevate is the only card paying a full 1 mile per AED 1, though that rate applies to Etihad and travel-partner spending only. Enter your own split above and the ranking sorts itself out.

About AED 23 to AED 26, or USD 6.25 to 7.15, using the official Reward Card conversion of 1.4 to 1.6 miles per US cent. That is the cash floor. Spent on flights, the same 1,000 miles usually returns more, and the gap widens in Business and First.

Yes. The net column subtracts the annual fee, VAT included as the banks charge it, from the cash-floor value of a full year of miles. Because it uses the floor rather than a flight valuation, treat a negative figure as a warning to redeem for flights rather than as proof the card loses money.

So that all 12 cards can be compared on one number. Emirates Islamic publishes its Etihad Guest rates per USD 1 of spend, and the dirham is pegged at AED 3.6725 to the dollar, so 3 miles per USD 1 works out at 0.82 miles per AED 1. The original per-dollar figures are on each card's own page.

The calculator answers this for your own spending, using Etihad advertised from-prices - reward flights start at 10,000 miles, with Vienna from 25,000 one-way from Abu Dhabi, Manchester from 30,000, Seoul and Taipei from 37,000 and Tokyo from 45,000. Etihad prices awards dynamically, so check your dates before counting on a figure.

No, they are counted separately. The miles column is spendable Etihad Guest Miles; the Tier Miles column in the rate table is the status currency, and only the Emirates NBD cards and the FAB Signature publish a rate for it. Tier Miles cannot be redeemed for anything.

No. The output is an annual run rate from ongoing spending, so joining bonuses, spend-triggered miles discount vouchers and fast-track status offers are all excluded - as are foreign exchange fees, category caps and excluded categories such as rent, utilities and government payments.
