How the banks compare

The bank you apply to decides more than the logo on the card. It sets the salary floor, the fee schedule, how quickly a limit is approved and whether the annual fee comes back to you as a waiver. Across the 13 banks below there are 135 cards, 51 of them with no annual fee, and the market entry point is AED 5,000 a month.

Where you already hold a salary account is worth weighing. Banks price risk on what they can see, and an existing relationship gives them a payment history that a first-time applicant cannot show. It is not a rule, but it is why the same person is approved at one bank and declined at another.

Choosing a bank for your credit card

Emirates NBD has the widest range in this catalogue with 31 cards. A wide range matters less than the fit: one card that matches how you spend beats a long list you will never use.

The lowest published requirement across the 13 banks listed here is AED 5,000 a month. Several banks sit at that level, so the deciding factors are usually your employer, your length of service in the UAE and whether the bank already knows you.

Usually not. UAE banks issue credit cards to customers of other banks, and salary transfer is more often a condition of loans than of cards. An existing relationship still helps: it gives the bank a view of your income and spending that a new applicant cannot provide.

Yes, and many people do. The limit is not the number of banks but your debt burden ratio: UAE banks count roughly 5% of every card limit you hold as a monthly commitment, whether or not you use the card. Enough unused limits will block your next application.
