Etihad Guest tiers and Tier Miles: what each level gets you
Etihad Guest has five membership levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Emerald. You climb by collecting Tier Miles. This guide shows exactly how many you need, what every tier gives you, and how UAE credit cards make the climb faster - all from the official programme pages.
Standard qualification thresholds - reduced 25% until 31 March 2027.
What are Tier Miles?
Tier Miles are the status currency of Etihad Guest. They cannot be spent on anything: their only job is to decide whether you are a Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum or Emerald member. You earn them mainly by flying with Etihad and its partner airlines, where the amount depends on your fare and distance. UAE residents can also earn Tier Miles without flying - by spending on an Etihad Guest co-branded credit card or shopping with Miles on the Go partners.
Your spendable miles are a separate balance. If you want the basics of earning and spending first, start with our guide to Etihad Guest Miles.

How UAE credit cards speed up your tier
Etihad confirms that UAE-issued Etihad Guest payment cards earn Tier Miles on everyday spending - the Emirates NBD Etihad Guest cards, for example, add 2.5 Tier Miles for every AED 10 spent, on top of the Guest Miles they earn. The flying minimums still apply, so a card alone cannot reach Silver, but it can cover the entire non-flying share of a threshold with spending you were doing anyway.
The buy-back safety net: cardholders who miss a renewal target can spend Guest Miles to keep their status - 75,000 miles to stay Silver, 150,000 miles to stay Gold. This is exclusive to Etihad Guest payment-card holders.
Bars to scale. The dark share is the flying minimum; a card can fill everything else.
The co-branded Etihad Guest cards below earn Tier Miles alongside regular miles on everyday spending, and unlock the tier buy-back safety net. Each card page lists the full earn rates and fees.
Mainly by flying: Tier Miles are awarded on Etihad and partner-airline flights based on your fare and distance. UAE residents also earn them with Etihad Guest co-branded credit cards and by shopping with Miles on the Go partners.
The standard thresholds are 25,000 Tier Miles for Silver, 50,000 for Gold and 125,000 for Platinum, with flying minimums of 10,000, 20,000 and 40,000 respectively. Until 31 March 2027 Etihad has reduced these by 25% for existing members: 18,750, 37,500 and 93,750.
A tier is valid for 12 months from the month you qualify. Keeping it takes 20,000 Tier Miles a year for Silver, 40,000 for Gold and 100,000 for Platinum, always with the flying minimums. Miss the target and you move down one tier. Bronze never expires.
Core benefits come automatically with a tier. Custom benefits are perks you pick yourself once a year - two picks at Silver, four at Gold, five at Platinum and four at Emerald. Beyond benefits are extra rewards for passing a milestone, such as 75,000 Tier Miles on Gold or 175,000 on Platinum.
No. Every tier has a flying minimum - 10,000 Tier Miles for Silver, 20,000 for Gold - that must come from flights. A card covers the rest: the Emirates NBD Etihad Guest cards, for example, add 2.5 Tier Miles per AED 10 on all spending.
If you hold an Etihad Guest payment card and miss your renewal target, you can spend Etihad Guest Miles to keep your status: 75,000 miles for Silver or 150,000 miles for Gold. Platinum and Emerald status cannot be bought back.
Tier Miles are not a spendable balance, so they do not expire the way Guest Miles do - they are counted over a rolling 12-month window for upgrades, and over your membership year for renewals. Tier Miles earned outside the current window simply stop counting towards the target.
A nomination lets you gift status to someone else. Platinum and Emerald members receive a Gold nomination as a core benefit, and Gold members can pick a Silver nomination as one of their Beyond rewards at 75,000 Tier Miles.
