About DBRCalculator
DBRCalculator is a free set of tools that helps you understand your money before you borrow. Check your Debt Burden Ratio and see how big a loan you can get, in seconds, with no sign-up.
Why this site exists
Most people only find out their loan was rejected after they apply. By then it is too late, and every rejection can hurt your record with the bank.
We wanted to fix that. The idea is simple: let you check the numbers yourself, before you walk into a bank or fill in an application. No sign-up, no waiting, no sales call.
What you can do here
- Check your DBR. Enter your salary, credit cards and monthly payments, and see how much of your income is already used up. Banks look at this number first.
- See your loan eligibility. Find out the biggest loan you can take, the monthly payment, and how different tenures change the total cost.
- Work out loan EMIs. Our separate Loan EMI Calculator shows the monthly payment, total interest and full month-by-month schedule for any loan amount, rate and tenure.
- Plan a loan buyout. Use our Loan Planner to merge several credit cards and loans into one lower monthly EMI, free up your DBR and see exactly how much cash you could take in hand.
How DBRCalculator works, feature by feature
Everything updates live as you type. Here is what each part does, in plain words:
Live DBR meter
As you enter your salary, cards and EMIs, a dial shows your Debt Burden Ratio instantly. Green means you are comfortably under the limit, amber means you are getting close, and red means you are over it.
The 5% credit card rule
Even a card you never use counts against you. We add 5% of your total card limit to your monthly debts, the same way banks do. You can change this percentage in settings to match your own bank.
New credit card eligibility
We show the largest new card limit you could qualify for, both by your DBR room and by a salary multiple you pick, so you know what to ask for before you apply.
Maximum eligible loan & bank loan cap
We show the biggest loan your DBR allows at the rate and tenure you choose. You can cap it at a salary multiple (most UAE banks use around 20×), or switch to Open (by DBR only) to see what your DBR alone would allow.
Loan options by tenure
Compare the same DBR room across every tenure in one table. You can see clearly how a longer term lowers your monthly EMI but raises the total interest you pay.
Check your own loan amount
Type any loan amount and we tell you the monthly EMI and whether it keeps you under your DBR cap, handy when you have a specific figure in mind.
Loan buyout check
See whether moving your existing loans to a single bank would lower your monthly payment, and how much room that frees up.
Personal Loan Buyout Planner
Our dedicated Loan Planner takes the buyout idea much further: pick which cards to close and which loans to buy out, and it works out the single loan to take, your new monthly EMI, your improved DBR and the exact cash you could walk away with, plus a clear list of what to ask your bank for.
Month-by-month schedule
View a full repayment table: how much of each payment goes to the loan itself versus interest, month by month, until it is paid off.
Overtime & allowances
Add variable income the way banks count it: overtime at 50% of your 3-month average, yearly allowances divided by 12 (education at 70%), and the total is capped at 50% of your fixed salary.
Works for any country
Change the DBR cap, the credit-card percentage and the currency in settings, and switch between English and Arabic. Built around UAE rules, but it works anywhere.
Separate Loan EMI Calculator
Our Loan EMI Calculator goes deeper: enter any three of loan amount, rate, tenure or EMI, and it works out the fourth, with reducing or fixed interest and a full schedule.
These tools get you ready, but they don't replace the bank. Always confirm your final numbers with your own bank before you apply.
How we keep it useful
The calculators follow the rules UAE banks actually use, like the 50% DBR cap set by the Central Bank, and the way card limits are counted against you. You can also change the cap and currency in settings, so the tools work for other countries too.
Rules and rates change often, so we always tell you to confirm the final terms with your bank before you apply. Our job is to get you ready, not to replace the bank.
A note on honesty
We try to keep everything plain and fair. The tools are free to use, and the numbers you enter stay in your browser; we do not ask for your name or documents to give you a result.
